Our Story

Built out of frustration with tools that weren't good enough.

Meulenbase started as a personal project — one person, one recurring problem, and a conviction that something better was possible.

The Problem

Working with data shouldn't feel like this.

Day after day, working with large financial datasets meant the same frustrations: Excel grinding to a halt on files it should handle comfortably, static reports that answered yesterday's question rather than today's, and BI tools so expensive and rigid that a simple layout change meant endless back-and-forth with data engineering teams.

The reports that teams relied on for real decisions were frozen snapshots — unable to be filtered, drilled into, or explored. Every new view meant a new manual export, another pivot table, another wait.

These weren't niche complaints. They were the daily reality for anyone working seriously with financial or operational data in organisations that hadn't invested in a dedicated data platform.

The Solution

So we built the platform we needed.

Meulenbase is a flexible reporting platform built specifically for working with large datasets in a way that feels fast, intuitive, and genuinely useful — not a watered-down version of an enterprise product.

The core idea is simple: reports should be live, interactive, and user-configurable. Filter, sort, group, and drill into your data directly in the interface — without exporting, without waiting, without asking anyone for help.

Tables handle real-world data volumes without slowing down. Columns are configurable. Mappings are rule-based. The whole process from data ingestion to live report is designed to be as fast and effortless as possible for the end user.

What We Stand For

Principles, not buzzwords.

Performance first

Every architectural decision is made with performance in mind. Large datasets shouldn't mean slow interfaces.

User control

Users should be able to shape their own views without needing a developer. Flexibility is a feature, not an add-on.

No unnecessary complexity

Tools should do what they claim. No ten-step workflows for simple tasks. No features that exist to justify the price tag.
